In August 1959, the first vertical and horizontal automatic telephone exchange in China was successfully developed. In the 1960s, with the expansion of the telephone network, it was more appropriate for the voice to convey emotion. As long as you can hear the voice of your relatives and friends, either on the phone or on the way, you can still stand in line for hours.

In the 1970s, with the comprehensive construction of the public telephone network, the public telephone went deep into the streets and alleys, and the small sales department, newspaper kiosks and big loudspeakers said "Comrade XX answered the phone!" It has become the most appropriate and warm information transfer station.

In September 1983, Shanghai opened the first wireless paging system in China, opening the era of personal instant messaging. On November 18, 1987, the first public mobile phone system in mainland China was built and put into commercial use in Guangzhou. In 1984, China began to use single-mode optical fiber on long-distance lines, and the communication line technology has made a qualitative leap, which led to the "home phone" gradually becoming popular in China. In the 1980s, holding a cellular phone in hand and kicking a BPM machine in the waist were the best match for the cell phone and the "cellular phone" of countless young people.

On September 1, 1993, China public packet exchange data (CHINAPAC), the first packet exchange network covering the whole country, was opened. On September 19, 1993, China's first digital mobile phone GSM network was opened in Jiaxing City, Zhejiang Province. In the 1990s, the 2G era opened, mobile phones began to enter the homes of ordinary people, the form of telephone line + cat dial-up Internet, began the door for Chinese people to absorb and learn information knowledge from the outside world.

In 2013, the world's first 100g backbone network was born in China. In 2019, China's fiber access rate exceeded 90%. The first main line wavelength division ROADM network was built, marking the evolution of optical transmission network to the era of optical networking and intelligence. More than 40 Beidou satellites have been launched, and GPS will be replaced soon. With the rise of 5g and the interconnection of everything, China's strong layout in recent years has exceeded 50% of the global use of optical fiber and cable. It is estimated that more than 340 cities and first tier cities in China will be covered by 2020, and China will complete the comprehensive coverage of 5g network by 2023.
