This solution has a single span of more than 100 kilometers, through relay regenerative amplification, and transmission of more than 1,000 kilometers using optical fiber wavelength division multiplexing technology. The backbone fiber core only needs 2 cores. Through the OTN transmission platform and OLP card, the security monitoring belt is protected and reduced. Among them, the Raman fiber amplifier (RFA) is an important part of the dense wavelength division multiplexing communication system. In many nonlinear optical media, the scattering of pump light with a shorter wavelength causes a small part of the incident power to be transferred to another beam whose frequency is shifted down. The amount of frequency shift down is determined by the vibration mode of the medium. This process is called pulling Mann effect. If a weak signal and a strong pump light wave are simultaneously transmitted in the fiber, and the weak signal wavelength is placed within the Raman gain bandwidth of the pump light, the weak signal light can be amplified. This mechanism is based on stimulated Raman scattering The optical amplifier is called RFA. RFA is mainly divided into two categories: discrete RFA and distributed RFA.


(1) Discrete RFA. Discrete RFA uses special fibers with higher Raman gain coefficients (such as highly doped germanium fibers, etc.). The length of this fiber is generally a few kilometers. The pump power requirements are very high. Generally it is several W. Discrete RFA can produce high gain of more than 40 dB, like EDFA, it is used for lumped amplification of signal light, so it is mainly used to realize the band that EDFA cannot amplify.


(2) Distributed RFA. Distributed RFA can greatly improve the performance of the optical transmission system. From the perspective of technical principles, only Raman amplification technology can achieve distributed amplification in the optical transmission process.
