With the rapid development of broadcasting and TELEVISION transmission technology the transmission mode ofCATV trunk line has changed from coaxial cable era to optical cable era, and the optical wavelength has changed from 1310nm era to1550nm era.1550nm transmission system is widely used in daily transmission system due to its advantages of low loss and long transmission distance.The most widely used core device in 1550nm transmission is the erbium-doped fiber amplifier(EDFA).


Erbium-doped fiber amplifier(EDFA),also known as fiber amplifier, amplifier optical amplifier.The main function is to amplify the optical power of C band,so as tc realize long-distance transmission.


According to the position and parameters of EDFA,it can be generally divided into three categories:power amplifier(BA),optical power amplification at the transmitting end:Line amplifier (LA) Optical power amplification in the middle sectior of the line; Preamplifier(PA),optical power amplification at the receiving end.As shown in the figure(BA, LA and PA from left to right):

Practical application -- Southeast Asia ISP national ring network project


Customer background

The customer is a secondary ISP operator in a country in Southeast Asia. The company has the optical cable resources in many countries in Southeast Asia and wants to exploit the advantages of existing optical cable resources to expand ISP business. In 2017, it is preliminarily planned to build a national transmission network in Country M to carry ISP services.

Business challenges

1. The ring network is about 2800km, and there are many stations. It is difficult to realize data transmission only by using wave division equipment.

2. When creating a network, consider high scalability.

3. The project budget is low and long-term operation and maintenance is required.


The solution

1. XYT-1600 active wave division system is adopted to build backbone transmission network. In thesolution, a large number of fiber-edFA fiber amplification devices are adopted to increase the transmission distance from 80km to 140km.

2.XYT Sharetop sends technical engineers to country M to help customers install and debug equipment until business is opened;

3. At the same time, provided training on equipment operation and maintenance to customers.
